Dance the night away – lift your legs and try to sway

What you need 

  • Music you both enjoy 
  • Space to dance 

 

What to try 

  • Play some of your toddler's favourite songs and have a little dance together.  
  • Encourage your toddler to hold your hand to help keep them steady. 
  • Show them how to lift up a leg while you dance. 
  • Encourage your toddler to lift theirs too. 
  • Try slowly stamping from one leg to the other and encourage your toddler to copy you. 

 

Good to know 

It's possible that your toddler won’t join in or is unsure of what to do.  

Don't let this stop you; you can continue to dance while your toddler watches your legs lift up and down in time with the music. The more your toddler watches your moves, the more they will be able to try and figure out how to coordinate their own movements.
