Just swinging around the park – making use of the equipment
What to try
- At a park, look for places where your toddler can hold onto something and swing backwards and forwards.
- Monkey bars or a climbing frame can be a great place, as long as you make sure it is a safe height and landing for your toddler. Stay close to help them swing.
- Encourage them to hold on and, if they want some support, gently hold them while moving them back and forth in a swinging motion. When they're confident, let them try swinging by themselves.
- A low hanging (strong) tree branch could also be a good place to have a swing. Remind your child to always look for risks and test the strength of a tree branch with an adult before playing on it.
