What you need
- A selection of large pans, ladles and spoons
- Play food, or items that could be food, such as blocks
What to do
- Spread the pans and utensils out on the floor and add the play food around them.
- Invite your toddler to come and explore what there is. Watch how they use the spoons to pretend to scoop and make food.
- You might want to join in and pretend to stir the food in the pan or transfer food from one pan to another.
Good to know
When your toddler gains control of the spoons and can transfer items successfully, you could encourage them to challenge and improve their scooping skills by giving them smaller bowls.
