I’ll listen while you chat away – you might hear a new word today

What you need 

• Toys that your baby finds interesting – include some that you know they can say words for, and others that they can’t.  

What to do 

1. Invite your baby to come and play with the toys.  
2. Stay close by and notice what your baby says.  
3. When they say something, look at the object they are talking about and show an interest in what they said. 
4. Sometimes comment too, you might add a little to what they have said, for example, “Oh yes your car is going fast!” in response to them saying, “Car!”
