Furniture walking – taking walking to a new level
What you need
- Low level furniture
What to do
- When your baby has pulled themselves into a standing position, using furniture for support, move down to their level and hold one hand.
- Gently move their hand so that their body turns, and they face the furniture sideways.
- Quietly say, “Shall we go for a walk?”
- Keep hold of your baby’s hand and slowly walk with them as they go along holding onto the furniture.
Good to know
This method provides your baby with two supports for their early steps – you and the furniture.
