Follow that finger – what is it trying to tell you?

What to try 

• When you see your baby pointing, respond with words such as: “Oooh, what is it that you want?” 
• Show your baby your pointing finger and follow the direction of your baby’s point with your finger.  
• If your baby is calm, deliberately go to an item that is close by and ask whether this is what they mean. Your baby will probably try to direct their point again, and they may use sounds to guide you.
