Find a secure, flat space for your toddler to learn to balance on a ride-on toy. Make sure they are wearing well-fitting helmet and suitable clothes.
Support your toddler in mounting their ride-on toy by standing beside them. When they are on, stand to the side of the ride on and hold the handles. Make sure your toddler's feet are on the ground and carefully walk forward while pulling the ride on. Check to see if your toddler's feet are moving with you as you go forward. If your toddler's feet are dragging on the floor, you may need to slow down even more. Demonstrate how to lift and move their leg forward.
