What to try
- Visit an art gallery, a museum or a shop that sells artwork, posters or greeting cards. You might be able to find suggestions for child-friendly gallery spaces and museums on local parenting groups.
- Choose a piece of art to look at with your toddler when you get there.
- As you describe what you notice, allow your toddler to join in by looking for details.
- You might say, “I can see a zebra, I wonder if there’s a lion too?”
- Give your toddler plenty of time to look at the artwork. This might be a completely new experience for them, and they might need to take in their environment for a little while before they can focus on smaller details.
