Filling and emptying – toys in, toys out

What you need 

• Baskets and boxes that are safe for your baby to play with  
• Toys of different sizes 

What to do 

1. Place two or three different-sized toys alongside the baskets. 
2. Leave your baby to explore. 
3. Watch to see whether your baby naturally moves and explores the toys while they play. Do they put them into the basket and then take them out? 
4. When you think your baby is ready, add more toys.
