Painted lines and paving slabs – they all provide the potential for a mini racetrack
What you need
- Toy vehicles with wheels
What to do
- Add some toy vehicles to your going out bag.
- When you have time for a bit of play, look to the ground to see if it offers a potential racetrack.
- Toy vehicles are not limited to normal-looking roads, they could travel along the mortar found between paving slabs, tiles, bricks and cobbles, or there may be painted lines in a play area.
- When you’ve found a safe spot, dig out the toy vehicles and show your toddler how they can be driven along the surface you have chosen.
- Encourage your toddler to join in, perhaps even spotting their own special racetrack.
- This is a challenging activity, and it might take a bit of getting used to. Don’t be surprised if your toddler drives their vehicle along a track that only they can see; allow them to explore freely, as they are gaining valuable skills each time they do this activity.
