Cover stories – get your child to tell you about a favourite story

What you need: 

• Familiar story books 
• You and your child 

What to do 

1. Encourage your child to pick out a familiar book. 
2. Before they open it, see if they can remember what happens in it. 
3. Then as you read it, before moving on from each page, see if they’re able to tell you what happens on the next page. 

Good to know: 

You can also try this with books they’re less familiar with and encourage them to use the illustrations to predict what might happen.
