What to try 

• There are often occasions where you have to ask for help when you’re out. You might be having dinner with your family, and you would like to see the menu or ask for the bill.  
• Before you ask for help, chat with your toddler about people’s helpful jobs.  
• You might say, “What would we like to eat? We need to look at the menu so we can decide. I can ask a member of staff to bring us a menu and we can choose.”  

Good to know 

Your toddler might recreate the things they notice when you play, so you might find you have a pretend restaurant at home and your toddler decides to take your order.
