Can you come and get it? Encourage your baby to change position using small, wheeled toys

What you need 

• Small, wheeled toys, such as cars or trains 
• A clear space on the floor 

What to do 

1. While your baby is in a seated position on the floor, engage their interest by playing with toys that have wheels.  
2. Drive a wheeled toy within their reach. 
3. Just before you get to your baby’s hand, slowly drive the toy away.  
4. Use an excitable voice to say something like, “Where is your car going? Are you going to come and get it? I think you are!”  
5. You could imitate the sound of the toy gently moving away from your baby by making engine sounds.  
6. While the toy moves away from them, your baby may move forward into a laying posture to try and reach for it.
