Can I play? Use toys to practise getting other people to play
What you need
A few toys including a toy animal, figure or doll
What to do
When your toddler is playing, pick up a toy and say, “I think teddy wants to play.”
Use the toy to show how you might join in with someone's play, for example the ‘teddy’ could ask, “Can I have the red block?”
The ‘teddy’ could also take a block without asking, and you could suggest your toddler tells the toy how to join in without upsetting the person who is already playing.
