Keep talking – using commentary to help your baby remember  

What to do 

• Talk about what you’re doing, notice if your baby responds and pause when they do so they can join in.  
• They might join in with a sound, action or word. When they’ve finished, continue your commentary.  

Good to know 

Talking about everyday things when you’re doing them will help your baby notice and remember them. So, even when you’ve had a busy day and don’t feel like you’ve had much time to play with your baby, your commentary will have still supported their learning.
