Be my helper – showing your baby how to ask for help
What to try
- Think about ways they could help with simple everyday activities.
- This could be holding something for you: when shopping, you could give your baby something to hold until you get to the till to pay.
- If they might not want to let go of the item, them holding the shopping after you’ve paid might be better!
- Show them how to ask for help by doing this when you involve them, for example, say, “Could you hold this for me? Thank you.”
Good to know
Your baby will probably be eager to get involved in the things you’re doing, so when it’s practical for you, it's a great way to help them understand how people can help each other.
