What you need
- Bath toys
- Sponges or flannels (or whatever your baby prefers to wash with)
What to try
- At bathtime, use words and phrases that your baby is starting to understand, such as “Splash,” “Rub a dub dub,” or “Nice and clean.”
- You might drop a toy in the water and say, “Plop!”
- You could offer your baby the same toy and say something like, “You splash.”
- Give your baby a clean with a sponge or flannel and then offer it to them to try and clean themselves.
- Try to make your instructions simple and fun.
