Word play at bathtime – helping your baby match words and meaning
Share
What you need
Bath toys
Sponges or flannels (or whatever your baby prefers to wash with)
What to try
At bathtime, use words and phrases that your baby is starting to understand, such as “Splash,” “Rub a dub dub,” or “Nice and clean.”
You might drop a toy in the water and say, “Plop!”
You could offer your baby the same toy and say something like, “You splash.”
Give your baby a clean with a sponge or flannel and then offer it to them to try and clean themselves.
Try to make your instructions simple and fun.
