Take a trip to the park and play on the baby swings. Only use swings if they have a solid plastic container and straps. At this stage, you might simply place your baby in the swing and sit in front of them. Place your hands under their feet to support them in retaining an upright position, they are likely to slip down the swing seat while they are building the muscles in the core. Only stay in the swing seat for a very short time. If your baby isn’t keen, try again on another day.
What to try
Use a stable table, chair, or unit that is low enough for your baby to pull up onto. Place it in a space where you can position yourself behind the furniture and your baby in front. Use one of your baby’s favourite toys, comforters, or objects and hold it in the air, above the furniture. Wiggle and jiggle it to try and engage your baby. If your baby looks up and spots it, slowly put the toy or object on top of the furniture. Watch to see if they try and pull themselves up and find their toy.
Put some funky music on and both take a seat. Try to get your baby engaged with the music by moving your arms and smiling. Your baby might start to copy some of your chair dancing moves, if they seem to be enjoying it, step the moves up and jiggle your body. Your baby may not be able to copy your exact moves just yet, but they will give it a good go. Occasionally, create a move where you turn the top half of your body to the left or right. When you turn, you can make some additional sounds like "Oooh" or "Huh," which may spark your baby's interest. If your baby is not very responsive, try again another day. They might be in the mood to do something more chilled.
