Art gallery with a toddler, are you sure?
What to do
- Explore an art gallery together.
- Watch to see how your toddler reacts to the paintings and artwork. If they show interest in a particular piece move close to it.
- Start a conversation about the art, you might say, “This is wonderful, I can see a chicken”
- Listen to what they say about it.
- Move around the gallery and look at any more pieces that your toddler shows an interest in.
Good to know
You might never have thought of an art gallery as being the kind of place you take your toddler; however, they are magical places, and they give your toddler the chance to notice things in the pictures and sculptures that you might otherwise not have thought about.
It is an experience that will encourage them to connect their memories with things that are in front of them and, best of all, many art galleries are free!
