All in a day’s work – reaching out and putting away
What to try
- When you’re doing routine jobs with your baby close by, let them join in with you.
- If you know there is something safe that they can reach and grab for, ask them to do it. For example, when you are putting away clean cutlery, if you can, hold your baby in your arms and ask them to help with the spoons.
- Put the spoons in a reachable space and show them where to put them in the cutlery drawer. Don’t expect things to land in the right place for some time just yet.
- Jobs like putting away washing, tidying up toys and dusting (non-breakable) surfaces are all perfect for your baby to help with.
