What to try
- Simple yoga poses can help your toddler to develop awareness and control of their body.
- Look for some that you and your toddler can practise together.
- There are videos on YouTube showing poses for children, books which you may be able to borrow from a local library or you could try this simple Cobra pose to get you started.
- Do the yoga pose slowly and carefully. Encourage your toddler to copy you.
The Cobra pose
Lie on your stomach, with toes on the floor and hands next to your chest.
Place your palms flat on the floor and lift your head and shoulders upwards, arching your back as you lift.
Hold for three or four seconds then slowly lower to the ground; repeat three or four times.
Take a moment at the end to rest comfortably, breathe in and out for a count of five.
