What you need
- Items to make a maze with, like cardboard boxes, the washing basket or some chairs
What to do
- Make a simple path or maze using the items you’ve found.
- Make the pathways quite wide at first; fitting through a smaller gap will be more difficult for your toddler and they might lose their balance as they negotiate the space.
- Walk through the space you have made and encourage your toddler to follow.
- When they seem confident, make the pathways a little narrower and try again. You could add tunnels or small items to climb over, too.
Use objects that will move a little if your toddler bumps into them, so they don’t hurt themselves if they misjudge the space.
